The Round Room was the impressive circular entrance hall to the original house. It is thought that the Round Room and the staircase were added to the original building around 1801.The table shown in the photographs was used in the early days of the golf club, to display the clubs silver ware trophies which were polished daily by the Club Steward. The room above the Round Room, now used as the Club Managers Office, was originally a bedroom. It was known as the Eagle Room in those days and the Prince of Wales, later King George IV, slept there as a guest of Sir George Chetwynd. |
