Congratulations to new Junior captain Jake Chadwick and his Vice-Captain Liam Rowe, have a great year guys! Thank you to the 2011 Junior Captain Sam Walker for his hard work this year, well done Sam!

92 people, made up of juniors, parents, supporters as well as Officers of the club attended the Brocton Junior Get-Together last Sunday, which was amazing and it's fantastic to see our Junior Section go from strength to strength!

Here's a brief review of what our Junior Section and our hardworking Junior Committee got up to in 2011!

• First Staffordshire County Club to gain GolfMark "High Achiever Status"!
• Two new junior/adult competitions were organised, one being a Christmas competition
• A match play seminar was held for our juniors with CONGU handicaps
• A raffle to raise funds was held at the Get-together this year
• A successful Junior Captain's Putting Competition Week was organised
• A Juniors Area on our club web site was created, which now also shows junior news, competition results and has links to show the handicaps of juniors who have not yet achieved CONGU status
• The Juniors who play in The Staffordshire League had a new team kit!
• The Junior Team finished third in our league, which was a significant improvement on the previous year.
• Mike Dewsbury continued to have a lot of success not only by being selected for the County under 16s but also for England coaching. He has also, for the second consecutive year, qualified for the Andalucía Junior European Open which starts this week.
• Since this time last year eleven new juniors have joined us.
• From the juniors who started the season playing from the White tees 9 have reduced their handicaps
• 4 boys have moved from the Red Tees to the Whites, therefore now have CONGU handicaps
• 1 girl attained a CONGU handicap and played in her first Ladies Section Competition
• 5 juniors have moved from the Blue Tees to the Red Tees
• We have 4 players who progressed from a 9-hole handicap to an 18 hole handicap
• A further 4 reduced their 9-hole handicap significantly
• For every junior competition we've run a 9-hole competition. This year we've had entries for every 9-hole event!

A lot of members have supported our club's junior section again this past year and we wouldn't have been able to achieve the above without them, it's what makes Brocton a great club!

Thank you to Christine Davies, the Junior Committee, our PGA Pro's Nevil and Jon and to all the helpers, supporters and parents for their hard work this year, not forgetting the Juniors for supporting the club by playing in the Competitions and the Team!
