This was a non-qualifying competition so the results for Division A will not be shown on the web site. However, the scorecards for all who played will be kept for the annual handicap review.
We had sixteen juniors playing today with weather that was quite pleasant (considering all the rubbish that we have had recently). All juniors received a “Halloween themed bag of sweets” before the competition. I thought that maybe these would keep them nourished during the round? However, the contents of some of the bags didn’t even make it to the 1st Tee!
Div. A was won by Alice Higginson with a very good score of 36 points, closely followed by Max Hunter with 35 points. Full results:-
1st Alice Higginson 36 points - sleeve of 3 golf balls
2nd Max Hunter 35 - 2 golf balls
3rd Alfie White 33 - golf ball. Won on a Better Back 9 from
4th Maria Thompson 33
5th Harry Beaumont 32
6th Ellie Treadwell 28
This is the first competition that Harry has played in at Brocton so, welcome Harry and thank you and Alice for keeping Tom (Efford) company.
The Div. B players, who had similar scores to Div. A, was won by Joe McCandless with 33 points just “pipping” David Haenelt by one point.
1st Joe McCandless 33 points - sleeve of 3 golf balls
2nd David Haenelt 32 - 2 golf balls
3rd Jay Atkin 27 - golf ball
4th Thomas Efford 19
Now for our 9-hole juniors, who are all stars and played some lovely golf (not that the other divisions didn’t of course). However, at the top was Freddie Booth who scored a fabulous 24 points (yes, over 9-holes). Freddie receives 2 golf balls. Accordingly Freddie’s handicap has been reduced by 3 shots down to 24. Very well done Freddie. Richard Haenelt was 2nd with 15 points, followed by Oliver Nichols with 13, and new member (almost) Thomas Fossdal-White also with 13 and Charlie Edensor with 10. I must also mention Kerr Dollochin who, whilst he has an 18-hole handicap played 9 holes and scored 18 points. All these juniors will get a golf ball when we next catch up.
Thanks as always to our Starter John Perkin who always does an excellent job and is very supportive of our Junior Section and thanks to On-Course helpers, Gordon Booth, Kate Farrow, Sarah Haenelt and Heather Wooding.
