Brocton Hall

Yoga Classes with Charlotte

Held weekly in the clubhouse – your first session FREE

In 2021 we introduced a weekly yoga session at Brocton Hall Golf Club. Held on Tuesday mornings in the clubhouse, these hour-long sessions are ideal for people of all ages and abilities.

Taking the classes is Charlotte Wilson, a locally-based, fully-qualified instructor.  Charlotte’s mindful approach ensures that everyone can enjoy the many benefits of yoga, both physical and mental.

A professional dancer, qualified yoga instructor and dance teacher, Charlotte set up her own yoga business in 2021. She currently runs classes in and around Stafford, ranging from gentle starter sessions to more advanced practice. In addition, she has created classes specifically designed to help golfers – assisting with balance, flexibility, movement and reducing those aches and pains.

As a special incentive, participants can take advantage of a first FREE session. Come along to any class, join in and decide if it’s right for you.

We asked Charlotte why yoga is such a great help for our members:

What are the benefits of yoga?

Practising yoga helps to stretch the body and keep joints supple, improving balance, weight distribution and co-ordination.

Why is yoga especially good for golfers?

In golf you use your body throughout the round, twisting and rotating, reaching and swinging ... just like yoga. Plus, many golfers find yoga reduces stiffness and various golf-related niggles.

Isn't yoga a bit 'airy fairy' for golf?

Yoga is now widely recognised for helping athletes and sports people at all levels. Finding a calm mind in a busy head space, focusing and aligning your breathing all contribute to playing at your greatest potential - you might even call it meditation! Challenging yourself with new skills keeps the brain active - and learning to follow a sequence is a great workout for the mind too.

What if I've never done yoga before?

My yoga sessions are for everyone! Whether you're active in your day-to-day life, or you find yourself needing to move more. There's no right or wrong way to do anything!

Can I just give it a try?

Yes. You can either book or simply turn up for a Tuesday session with no commitment. Your first session is free. Then, if you decide it’s not for you, you have lost nothing. But a quick spoiler alert - most people keep coming back for more!

What our members say about Yoga for Golf at Brocton

“As a ‘newbie’ to Yoga I’ve even surprised myself how much I have enjoyed the classes. Charlotte is a great coach, encouraging and allowing us to go at our own pace. Feel much fitter, improved my golf swing and met several members I didn’t know before - highly recommended!”

“I have enjoyed the yoga very much and would recommend it to everyone no matter what their ability.”

“Classes are great for beginners, for non-golfers as well as golfers for improvement in flexibility, relaxation and balance- and for enjoyment.”

"We call it a yoga practice because it's not meant to be perfect. Embrace the wobble!"
