Well, I think that the Course is quite difficult at the moment with fast fairways and greens which are firm and fast. But, that’s me. It didn’t stop a couple of great scores being posted in Division A. Plus our 9-hole handicap players all scored well.
In Division A CONGU Medal; CSS 70/71, the first five scores were:-
|1st||Bethan Ashley-Brown||Nett 63|
|2nd||Maria-Tiffany Thompson||Nett 68|
|3rd||Cameron Efford||Nett 71|
|4th||Ellie Ashley-Brown||Nett 72|
|5th||Jack Webb||Nett 72|
Congratulations to Bethan and Maria for reducing their handicaps. Bethan by 3 shots, down to 27 and Maria by 1 shot down to 16. Bethan was certainly helped by a chip-in at the 18th, not an easy one either as it was over a bunker. I would also like to welcome Jack to his first junior competition.
It didn’t seem quite so easy for the Division B players. These are juniors with an 18-hole club handicap and the competition is always a Stableford.
|1st||Oliver Clark||28 points (BB9 from)|
|2nd||David Haenelt||28 points|
|3rd||Kerr Dollochin||26 points|
Tough going guys hey?
|1st||Elliott Clark||18 points|
|2nd||Richard Haenelt||17 points (BB3 from)|
|3rd||Oliver Nichols||17 points|
Really great scoring from all of you and a very warm welcome to Oliver in his first junior competition. I hope you all enjoyed it.
Many thanks to our magic Starter John Perkin who as always does an excellent job for the Junior Section. Plus, of course a huge thank-you to the On-Course helpers, Sarah Haenelt, Mary Robertson,
Special thanks to junior member Ellie Treadwell, who couldn’t play due to injury but walked round for 18 holes looking after our younger members, you’re a star Ellie. Very special thanks to Nicki Bowen who not only checked that the CONGU juniors checked themselves in via the computer, she then introduced herself to all the other juniors and then, went on the Course and marked cards for our 9-hole players. If this wasn’t enough she and Heather Wooding then put all the cards into the system and finalised the competition. Pheww. Thanks everyone.
