Brocton Hall

Course Overview

The 18 hole golf course is a parkland course set in the beautiful grounds of Brocton Hall Estate, which is on the edge of Cannock Chase. The course was designed by Harry Vardon and the official opening of the course, on 12th July 1923 by the Fourth Earl of Lichfield, was followed by an exhibition match between the course architect Harry Vardon and Ted Ray. Harry Vardon won The Open six times and also the US Open in 1900 with Ted Ray being Open Champion in 1912. The course, although not as long as many modern courses, provides a good test of golf. It is well bunkered and requires accuracy, the original course layout having had only minimal alterations over the years. The course was re-measured in 2021.
