The Ian Macfarlane Trophy is the oldest trophy that the juniors play for, being presented in 1954. Congratulations to Tom Andrews for winning this Cup with an excellent round of Nett 66. This not only dropped Tom’s playing handicap by 2 shots down to 17, an ESR was applied so Tom is now playing off 16. Great going Tom.
The CSS for today was 70/71, with the top three players all playing to, or below this.
1st Tom Andrew Nett 66
2nd Ethan Evans Nett 70 on a BB9 from
3rd Maria-Tiffany Thompson Nett 70
Div. B - 18-hole Stableford
1st David Haenelt 43 points
2nd Jay Atkin 40 points
OK David, this is getting a bit monotonous (I am delighted to say) so, and this has me rubbing my hands, your handicap has been cut by 4 shots, down to 23 - Congratulations. We are now looking at moving you back to the White/Yellow tees. But even I can’t be cruel enough to implement this until the end of the school holidays. Very well done to Jay in his first 18-hole competition. I needn’t have worried as he too has cut his handicap by 2 shots down to 40. Keep it up Jay. Also a mention to both Kerr Dollochin (a stalwart in our competitions) and to Kade Stewart in his first junior competition.
Well done to our 9-hole juniors, with the first two both scoring 18 points, with Oliver just creeping into 1st place by his score on the better back 6 holes. However due to what we refer to as “A Stableford Adjustment System” Oliver has had his handicap reduced by one shot down to 24. Congratulations. Richard on the other hand was his usual steady self - very consistent.
1st Oliver Nichols 18 points bb6 from
2nd Richard Haenelt 18 points
Well done also to Charlie Edensor for taking part in his first junior competition and scoring in double figures - well done Charlie
Thanks yet again to John Perkin for his Starter duties and to Nicki Bowen, Mary Robertson and David Robinson (I hope you enjoyed your first adventure on the Course with our juniors David) and to Colin Thompson for their on-Course help. And to Nicki who as usual also checked the cards and finalised the competition.
