Well, what a very odd day, with some good news and maybe some not so good? With all the rain in the last 24 hours I think that I, and maybe some others, would not have been surprised if the Course had been closed. But, no - this is Brocton (which we all know drains very well) and so the competition went ahead. However, having spoken a couple of times with the greens staff, it was advised that all the bunkers be declared GUR. So, whilst the Oakwood Cup was played for, the competition was a non-qualifier, hence no CSS was allocated. Never mind you CONGU players, all cards will be acceptable in the Annual Handicap Review.
So Congratulations to Max who won the Oakwood Cup. You are on a roll at present Max, so keep it going. Just outside the top three with a Nett 73 was Tom Andrews certainly within “shouting distance” of his new handicap.
1st Max Hunter Nett 67
2nd Alfie Poole Nett 71
3rd Ellie Treadwell Nett 72
As I understand it the conditions were quite tough, with rain earlier on then winds and tricky pin positions (maybe something to do with tomorrows ProAm?).
Div. B - 18-hole Stableford
1st Arthur Squire 34 points on a bb9 from
2nd Charlie Mears 34 points
As Arthur is away at school we don’t see much of him. So welcome back Arthur. Well done to Charley for his 2 on the 3rd hole.
I think all you guys are great and I am delighted you played. Well, it looks like Richard is back to his winning ways (having just missed out last week on a bb6 score). It means that you get another one shot off your handicap Richard down to 15 - Brilliant.
1st Richard Haenelt 21 points
2nd Harry Sutton 16 points on a bb6 from
3rd Freddie Booth 16 points
Thanks yet again to John Perkin for his Starter duties and to On-Course helpers Gordon Booth; Mary Harris; Jo Mears; Jane Plant and Paul Sutton. The Junior Section thanks you all
