Hi everyone, you will have heard a lot from me in the way of Reports during the Summer Holidays and playing season. So, here are a few things that have happened that some of you may not know about.
Our Level 1 Junior Team reached the Finals of the Staffordshire Junior league, which is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations everyone. The Final was held on a neutral Course at Calderfields G & C C. We didn’t quite make it, losing 3 ½ : 1 ½ but it was a well fought match.
Our Junior Captain Hannah goes from strength to strength and now plays off a handicap of 2. She came 2nd in The Abraham Trophy, which is a National Event and which is the prelude to the English Girls Under 16 Open Championship. This is an International Event and Hannah finished a very creditable 22nd out of a field of 90. The winner came from Italy. She has also again been selected for the England Golf Midlands Squad. In addition, at home in the Brocton Ladies Section, Hannah has won, amongst other events, the Club Championship; the Challenge Bowl Match play Knockout and the Summer Knockout.
Alfie White became the Captain of the Staffordshire Boys Under 16 Team and also plays for the Under 18 Team. In addition, Alfie has qualified to play in The Junior European Championships which takes place at Alcaidesa Links Resort in Cadiz Spain. This will be held in November. Watch this space!
Congratulations to Maria -Tiffany Thompson who not only won the Jubilee Cup, which is a senior competition open to all players with a CONGU handicap, but also won the Rupert Evans Knockout. A fantastic achievement Maria.
