Brocton Hall

Junior/Adult Team Competition Report - December 27th 2019

We had 32 people playing in this Seasonal Competition, so well done all of you for walking off the festive food. This is a Team Event, played in threes with two Stableford scores to count.

A big thank-you to Nicki (Bowen) for the pre-organisation of this event and finding partners as required. Thank you also to Julia Nichols for partnering one of our new juniors, Thomas Fossdal-White. Unfortunately they were unable to get a third person so played as a two. Thank you both for entering into the spirit of the occasion.

Also playing at Brocton for the first time was new junior member Tilly Aspinall. She and her brother Oliver, also a member, played with Grandad Roy. Dad Graeme is a golf Professional in Germany and was teaching at Brocton before going to Germany. Mum Isobel you will all know because she spends most of her time behind the counter in the Pro’s shop.

Welcome to the guests who played, we hope you had a very enjoyable experience.

OK, now you have caught up with all the news and gossip, onto the competition. Those who won a prize received vouchers for the Pro’s shop.

The 9-hole Event was won with 49 points by Freddie Booth (junior) playing with dad Adam and Grandad Gordon. They each received a voucher for £4. So I suspect that Freddie did quite well out of that! Well done to the other teams of Charley, Jo and Paul Mears with 44 points and Oliver, Tilly and Roy Aspinall with 42 points.

The 18 hole Event had a very close result with the top two teams both scoring 87 points – wow. Not only that but they scored exactly the same for the front and back nine holes (how weird is that?). So the winners, who won eventually won on a count-back of the last six holes, were Alice Higginson, playing with uncle Mark Whitehouse and Paul Sutton. They each received a voucher for £10, (which are in the Pro’s shop). The other 87 pointers were Jay Atkin, Joe McCandless and Nicki Bowen who received £6 each. In third with 85 points were Tom Andrews playing with dad Paul and Rob Evans. Each received £5 (vouchers are in the Pro’s shop).

Hope you all enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing you in 2020.
