Having started last year with the Junior Captain’s Drive-in, this needed to be postponed as Junior Captain Ethan was on holiday. So, this will now take place during the Easter holidays.
We had a great start to the 2020 golfing season with initially 23 people signing up to play.
This was the first time that we had just one CONGU Division and, of course, a competition for those playing from the Blue Tees. On a day with tricky weather conditions (although the rain did keep away!), there were some very good scores.
We had four juniors playing in the 9-hole Blue Tee Division, all of whom scored in double figures.
1st with 20 points was Elliot Clark. This earned him 2 golf balls and a cut in his 9-hole handicap of two shots down to 25.
2nd with 16 points was Freddie Booth, followed by Ricard Haenelt with 15 and Charlie Edensor with 12.
All boys received a golf ball (in addition to any that they had won in the competition).
The top six in Division A were:-
1st Joe McCandless with 38 points, who received a sleeve of three golf balls. This followed Joe’s excellent win in the Robert Rock Academy the previous day. Very well done Joe.
2nd was Bethan Ashley-Brown with 36 points, winning two golf balls
3rd was Harry Beaumont with 35 points, who received a golf ball.
There were another eight juniors who scored 30 points or more. These were Max Hunter; Harvey Hall; Oliver Clark; Jay Atkin; Joe Hudson; Alice Higginson; Alfie White and David Haenelt. Well done everyone.
I would like to thank the more experienced juniors for readily accepting one of the juniors, who had recently been awarded a CONGU handicap, into their starting groups of three. I am proud of all of you. A special thank-you to Harvey Hall who took two of the newer juniors’ round with him.
Our Starter, as ever, was John Perkin and on-Course helpers were Nicki Bowen, Steph Burgin and Heather Wooding. Our grateful thanks to you all.
