Well for once the wind had stopped the gale force gusts that have been experienced in the last few competitions and instead, by the time the players had started on the Back 9, we had rain. So a few soggy golfers and Score Cards! Not that the scores indicated that there were any problems because the CSS for each tee was reduced and nine of our twelve CONGU handicap players play within their buffer zone. Jay Atkin reduced his handicap in the week by 0.5 and dropped his playing handicap down to 32 and still played in his buffer zone. Good going Jay. Two had handicap reductions - rain - what rain?
Congratulations to Arthur Squire, who pipped Alice Higginson on a bb9, and therefore won the Ian Macfarlane Trophy. This is the oldest Trophy that the juniors play for being presented in 1957.
The CSS were 69/68/70, White/Yellow/Red tees in that order. -
1st Arthur Squire Nett 65 Handicap Reduction -1.2 Now playing off 27
2nd Alice Higginson 65 Handicap Reduction -1.6 Now playing off 23
3rd Oliver Clark 69
4th Alfie White 70
I would just like to add that, yet again, there was tremendous camaraderie amongst the juniors over lunch, which was lovely to see and hear.
There were just two juniors playing in the 9-hole Blue Tee Stableford Competition, stalwarts Elliot Clark and Richard Haenelt. I must say that both looked a little like “drowned rats” as they came off the Course. Nicki was their helper and said that they both must have had a late night because neither of them “got going” until the fifth hole. The “Honours” went to Richard with 13 points.
Thanks to Nicki for being on the Course and finalizing the Competition.
