THREE OFF THE TEE 16 OCTOBER '23 NEWSLETTER

Hello there

If any members were in the audience last night at the 'Visible Touch' (Genesis tribute group) show in Stoke, my apologies! 🙂 As great as what the music was (we have seen these guys five times), I was checking my phone (as discreet as possible) every two minutes (literally) to check the France vs SA rugby score. Pretty thankful in the end that I wasn't watching the match as my nerves were shot. Well done to England and South Africa for getting through to the semi final and my commiserations to all Welsh, Irish and well, French fans. We won't mention the cricket

COMPETITIONS

The good scoring continues in the Tuesday Social! 25 points for Alan Walsgrove which gets him the prized parking space and £15! Special mentions to Gavin Foulner who was 2 under gross and Hannah Golding who was 3 under gross off the Championship tees!!

Team Brocton beat Whittington GC in the Mixed Greensomes match yesterday 4 - 2. Well played all!

Men's

Congratulations to Alan Walsgrove and Matt Aldred winning the Eric & Ernie trophy with a phenomenal 50 points. A long standing, much loved tradition and I am sure much fun and camaraderie was enjoyed by all. The photos suggest a rather quiet, boring evening 🙂.

Seniors

A great day was had by all 56 competitors in the Felthouse Cup annual event last week Monday in incredible weather (most members were playing in shorts!). The winner with a very good score of 39 points and the lowest gross score on the day with 76 points, was Steve Hirst.

CLUBHOUSE

Thursday 19th October 2023 is the Quiz Night. If you would like to tuck into some fish & chips beforehand, the deadline to order is tomorrow! The team sheet is up in the foyer so get the brain cells in gear and sign up ASAP.
Friday 17th November 2023 is Race Night here at Brocton. Free entry but you can order food before the races - Scampi & chips or Hunters Chicken & chips (vegetarian options are available) for £12 per person
Friday 15th December 2023 is our Members & Guests Christmas Party Night. Enjoy a night filled with great food, music, and laughter at our Members Christmas Party Night. Let loose for a few hours while you dance the night away and embrace the Christmas season together.

MEMBERS QUESTION

You are invited to send any questions in that you would like one of the Management Committee members to answer. Often a committee member is approached on the putting green with a question that might not relate to their area of knowledge. This is a way for you to ask those questions.

Q. I have a question concerning qualification for the Highland Brigade Bowl. Qualifiers are those divisional winners and runners up in the monthly medals but only divisional winners in the mid week medals. I’m not sure why there is a distinction and would love to know why?

A. This will be raised at the next Match and Competitions Sub-committee.
