BROCTON HALL GOLF CLUB

THREE OFF THE TEE 6 NOVEMBER '23 NEWSLETTER

Hello there

An upcoming LIV Golf event will be open to PGA Tour players in a surprising turn of events. From a one year suspension to now allowing PGA Tour players to feature in an upcoming LIV Golf event, means the ice must be thawing between the rivals. Then there is the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's high-tech golf league TGL to launch on January 9. Interesting times in golf. And no, I am not talking about the cricket 🙂 🙂

Our very own course maestro, Roger Howarth is featured in this months Staffordshire Golfer - You can read the article here

One of our Travelling Golfers, Matt Wilkes took this stunning photo at Rosslare Golf Club (Wexford, Ireland). Not sure if a pot of gold could be found in the rough. Autumn can be a beautiful unsung hero. The crispness of the blue skies and the contrast of colours is always a wonderful sight. Nigel Lunn captured the course in her Autumn beauty. (Please don't show any members of the fishing club!)

PAR FOR THE COURSE

I know the Greenkeeping guys would have been really busy this morning, so I didn't want to disturb them for an update. Instead, I am sharing a couple of our recent five star reviews. I think that many times we get so used to playing at Brocton week in and week out, that we forget how lucky we are. 🙂

  • 'What a spectacular golf club, with some very challenging Par 4s off the white Tees. The Club House is excellent, set in the middle of the golf course. While playing, we must have seen over 20 deer. Everyone was so friendly'
  • 'Our golf society has been in existence since 1970. This is one of the best courses we have visited. Excellent facilities, efficient friendly staff, fabulous food and to top it all, a high quality golf course topped off with sunny weather. You are daft not to go here'

And from one of our lovely members who played yesterday -

  • 'Must give credit where credit is due. Brocton Hall Golf Club was amazing today after all the rain tipped on it over the last days unbelievable how dry it was and how quick the greens were so well done to the green staff and all concerned at the club that keep us playing golf in these adverse conditions Thank you x'

CLUBHOUSE

Members have really taken a liking to our new RIJO42 coffee machine. We knew it had a good reputation (that's why we brought it in) but we have been pleasantly surprised by how many members are making use of it. A small tip - until we increase the WiFi signal, the card payment goes through quicker if you insert your card.

Our cocktail menu is still available alongside the Gin of the Week - Sloemotion Distillery Handmade Damson Gin Liqueur. The rich, full plummy fruitiness of the damson combines fantastically with their London dry gin to provide a wonderful tangy mouth feel.

Our Race Night on Friday the 17th is nearly fully booked. Please ensure you have noted if you would like a meal on the evening (Scamp & chips or Hunters Chicken and chips for £12pp). Giddyup!

Friday, 15th December - Members & Guests Christmas Party Night. It's time to celebrate the season with family and great friendships, together with some sparkle and good food. £42pp for a delicious three course meal with a DJ and disco to dance the night away.  Bookings at the bar or online (table plan is available in the foyer)

MEMBERS QUESTION

You are invited to send any questions in that you would like one of the Management Committee members to answer. Often a committee member is approached on the putting green with a question that might not relate to their area of knowledge. This is a way for you to ask those questions.
