BROCTON HALL GOLF CLUB

THREE OFF THE TEE 12 FEBRUARY '24 NEWSLETTER

Hello there

Tomorrow evening England Golf host the Young Volunteer of the Year Award and we wish our finalist, Maria-Tiffany Thompson all the best. A huge achievement to get this far!

Wirral Golf Club have joined the Association of 1894 clubs under the reciprocal arrangement. With 23 clubs on the 1894 arrangement and a reciprocal agreement with five stunning courses, I hope you are all planning a golf tour in 2024. Just please not all at once! More info

We are kicking off the mixed season with a Greensomes competition on Sunday 17th March with a meal in the evening and prize presentation. The tee is reserved from 11:00 - 13:00 and sign up will open this Sunday 18th February at 18:55 and a table plan will go up in due course.

MC Chairman, Simon Harbridge took his clubs with him when he went to Port Charlotte last week for business and met this toothy chap. It's very rare for an alligator to chase a human on dry land and the average human could easily outrun an alligator, zigzagging or not — it tops out at a speed of around 9.5 miles per hour. Not sure that is worth putting to the test!

Hopefully we will be able to enjoy the outdoor terrace with a post-round drink while gazing stunning scenery soon.

There are only a few tables left for Mothering Sunday (10th March), so please let Justin or Shaun know if one of those has your name on it!

MEMBERS QUESTION

You are invited to send any questions in that you would like one of the Management Committee members to answer. Often a committee member is approached on the putting green with a question that might not relate to their area of knowledge. This is a way for you to ask those questions.

The questions in last weeks Three off the Tee need to be discussed at subcommittee meetings, and then agreed at the next Management Committee meeting on the 28th February. The results of these will then be shared with members.

NOTICES

Joe Casey lost his Oakley Flak Jacket prizm prescription glasses on the course yesterday. Has anyone seen them? Please hand them in at the office or Pro Shop. Thank you.

All of us at Brocton Hall wish our many members with a birthday this week a very Happy Birthday!  Happy Birthday to Tom Flowers, Andrew Pennington, Margaret Robinson, David Wise, Craig Hadley, Patricia Godwin, Helen Tasker, Anthony Chaplin, Paul Grindrod, Sean Nelson, David Bishop, Mike Butler, Ken Bailey, Donald Ward, Stuart Hunter, Ian Ashton and myself! May all your drives be straighter than your hair on a windy day. Happy Birthday to each of you!

PRO SHOP

Remember that it is February Frenzy in the Pro Shop! Keep an eye on Facebook for daily updates or even better yet, pop into the Pro Shop and say hi!

HOLE IN ONE

We have had to endure some awful weather these last couple of months but we are not the only ones. Luckily we don't have to deal with the fans that the 2024 WM Phoenix Open have to contend with. Poor weather led to a decision to temporarily shut the gates and stop alcohol sales after the grassy hills and walkways became unusable. There were many cases of abuse shouted at the players with them in turn confronting fans, fans being trampled or sliding down muddy hills, a fan making sand angels in a bunker, fans wresting, chanting 'we want beer' and I will leave it there as it just gets worse.

On a happier note

Happy golfing everyone,

Karen
